Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10

What an album! The only reason the album didn't elevate them straight to stardom is not enough people heard it. Modern classic - from start to finish.

An eclectic but incredibly well-integrated blend of traditional death metal, melodeath, black metal, progressive, and even a bit of folk (with the added bonus of audible and tasty bass guitar). The album has a consistent, pulverizing momentum punctuated by the rare acoustic passage or catchy chorus/refrain. Overall an unbelievably mature first offering from an up-and-coming band to watch.

Easily one of my favorites of 2023, the writing and riffage speaks for itself. I've only caught these guys live once on the Carcass tour this year, I need to see them again 🤘
